Runner up in the 2007 Group Travel Awards!

The team at mygrouptour.com were delighted to be announced as a Runner Up in the Best Online Information Service category at the recent 2007 Group Travel Awards ceremony.
This was the 11th year for the Group Travel Awards as organised by Group Travel Organiser. Each year the group travel organiser readers of the magazine are asked to vote for who they think are the best suppliers in over 20 categories. Once the votes are counted a list of finalists is published and all the finalists are notified.
“We were very excited to hear that we had reached the Finalists of the Online Information Service Category Award” said Andrew Grieve, Managing Director of Discover Travel & Tours. “We have worked very hard over the year that the site has been live to improve the quality and content that the site has to give the Group Organisers the best information for them to plan and book their tours with ease”.
Attending the evening was Jennifer Henderson, Business Manager and Gema Diaz-Castro, Sales Executive.
The event took place on Friday 22nd June at the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel in Portman Square and the cream of the tourist industry turned up for a quality evening of entertainment and fun.
Carol Kirkwood weather presenter from BBC’s Breakfast News was the host for the evening and was in charge of announcing the Runners Up and Winner in each category.
Also during the evening we had some very special entertainment from two BBC shows that have enjoyed high ratings over the last two years as they also look for two stars among thousands. From “How to solve a problem like Maria” and now a cast member of “The Sound of Music”, Aoife Mulholland entertained the crowd with 2 songs from the show before she was joined by opera singer Jane Webster.
Daniel Boyes from BBC TV’s Any Dream Will Do then performed two numbers from the new production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
The category of Best Online Information Service category was a new category for 2007 and recognises the increasing importance that the internet has become as a source of information for group travel organiser. There were 6 quality finalists in this category.
“I was absolutely delighted when I heard our name read out as the Runner Up in the category” said Jennifer Henderson, Business Manager for mygrouptour.com. “We were on a very lucky table with all other companies we were with having won a prize so I was feeling the pressure!. To be a runner up in the first year that this award was announced and in the first year of the life of mygrouptour.com is a fantastic achievement. The certificate will be displayed prominently within the office and we will be proud to publish the Runner Up logo in our website”.
